Good quality, but tough to switch ears
First off, this is a very good headset. The sound quality is very good, and the design works very well with limited or no tape. My soccer crews use these a lot, and the feedback I always get is they are light and secure.
The one thing that keeps me from giving this a 5-star rating is that it's very, very hard to change the headset from a left ear to a right ear or vice versa. The screw used on the boom is extremely small. It's hard to unscrew it, keep the screw from getting lost, and then placing the screw back in the boom. I've gotten around this by "pre-setting" two of the mics to right ear for ARs and one to the left ear for the center (I use the more expensive model, so if I'm working the other two officials can figure out if one wants to use a left-ear model). -
BOOM Mic 3
Purchase the Yaps 4000 3 user kit. Standard h/sets work well, good quality. But this unit is rad to the power of max. Its like talking on the latest IPhone, quality of sound is banging. Its super light so your ear doesnt get sore. I tape mine, probably dont need to though. I have made a great purchase on this bad boy and thanks to the other reviews that encouraged this buy this item to next level my Comms system. What has been interesting is that the "optics" when coming on to pitch with Comms is total pro. I speak to the coaches and say if you need anything, speak to AR etc and they can just talk to me, like subs or how much time left etc etc, you know what I mean.
I also like all the extra bibs and bobs you get and the fancy ballistic nylon case it comes with is quite cool. Even has a plastic clear window so you can place an ID card in it. Well done Team. -
Light Weight; Secure
Don't waste money with other less expensive units (like I did). I have tried every open mic set-up the Referee Store has to offer, and I know the higher price tag seems scary, but trust me, they are worth it! They are light weight, fit securely in the ear with the conch, and did not require face tape when running center. The sound quality wind noise was so much better than the less expensive units.
